Chief Engineer

Job Description

The Residence Inn Scranton is seeking a Chief Engineer to oversee the day-to-day operations of the engineering division. In the absence of the Director, the Chief Engineer will take on administrative, financial, and operational responsibilities related to engineering at the hotel.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing and implementing plans to maintain property, equipment, and grounds in a safe and acceptable state of repair.
• Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal laws.
• Supervise and train all Engineering staff in Customer Service, Standards, and Loss Prevention.
• Create and post schedules for all Engineering staff.
• Develop and adhere to the annual budget for the department.
• Participate in financial forecasting and profit/loss review meetings.
• Implement preventative maintenance programs for all hotel equipment.
• Ensure all emergency and life safety equipment and systems meet Highgate Hotel standards.
• Participate in energy conservation programs.
• Review guest feedback and address issues promptly.
• Ensure compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of progressive facilities management experience or a 2-year college degree and 1 year of related management experience.
• Stationary Engineer’s license may be required.
• Skills in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general maintenance.
• Heavy lifting may be required occasionally.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to multitask.
• Warm, friendly demeanor with guests and employees.
• Attend all required meetings and trainings.
• Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming.
• Must be effective in problem-solving and handling complex information.
• Confidentiality and adherence to hotel standards and regulations.
• Other duties as assigned by management.
