Boeing Defense Space & Security (BDS) Air Dominance Division is seeking Fatigue and Fracture Engineers for advanced aircraft development programs located in Hazelwood, MO. BDS Proprietary programs develop complex, highly integrated, advanced systems, enabling future growth for Boeing and our Department of Defense (DoD) Customers. Responsibilities
- Responsible for durability and damage tolerance analysis, Master Events Spectrum generation, fatigue allowables development for design
- Fatigue is responsible for structural certification of components
- Performs structural analysis using well defined analysis tools to develop the structural environment, characteristics and performance
- Verifies structural integrity by using analytical methods, finite element models/simulations and other analysis tools throughout the product lifecycle
- Supports test execution and analyzes/reports test results to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications
- Defines and documents certification and test results to substantiate for customers and regulatory agencies
- Supports in-service products by investigating failures and analyzing improvements
- Works under minimal direction
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. A final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required. Special Program Access or other Government Access Requirements are mandatory for this position, for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship only.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)
- The ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship
- The ability to obtain Program Access for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship only
- Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree in Aeronautical/Aerospace/Astronautical, Civil or Mechanical Engineering
- 3+ years of experience working with fatigue and damage tolerance analysis
Additionally, the following will be beneficial capabilities for the position: An active U.S. Security Clearance in the past 24 months, Experience working with advanced composite structural analysis, Experience working with structural analysis on aerospace products, Experience with Fatigue testing, Experience with spectrum generation
Level Requirements
(Experienced, Level 3)
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
(Lead or Senior, Level 4)
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
