Job Description
The Surgical unit at Blessing Hospital has 41 private rooms and caters to patients above 17 years of age requiring medical/surgical nursing care. The primary population served includes surgical patients such as orthopedics, bariatrics, vascular, neurology, and general surgery, as well as general medical patients with diagnoses including but not limited to sepsis, respiratory diseases, gastrointestinal diseases, skin and wound conditions, and infections.
Responsibilities
- Lead front-line nursing staff in the delivery of patient care.
- Coach and guide nursing staff in the implementation of action plans to achieve organizational goals.
- Adopt innovative nursing practices based on evidence.
- Collaborate with the nurse manager to recruit, select, orient, and retain nursing staff.
- Ensure nursing staff compliance and provide input into their evaluation.
- Mentor charge nurses and clinical nurses.
- Implement changes in nursing practice and/or patient care through shared governance.
Requirements
- Graduate of an RN School of Nursing.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
- Previous leadership-related experience.
- Possess a current Illinois RN license and maintain current BLS.
- National Nursing Leadership Certification (when eligible).
- ACLS within 6 months of hire.
- Preferred: Related Nursing Specialty Certification.
