Job Type: Weekend, Friday-Sunday 7:00am-7:00pm

Salary: $23-30 per hour

Advanced Fiber Products is looking to expand its Tool and Die Shop and is currently seeking a Weekend Tool and Die Maker. You will work 36 hours but get paid for 40, making it a great opportunity for those seeking weekend employment.

Responsibilities

  • Study specifications such as blueprints, sketches, models, or descriptions to determine materials required and machines to be used to fabricate parts.
  • Compute dimensions, plan layout, and determine assembly method and sequence of operations.
  • Measure, mark, and scribe metal stock for machining.
  • Set up and operate machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders to machine parts, and verify conformance of machined parts to specifications.
  • Verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances.
  • Examine standard or previously used dies, tools, and jigs and fixtures and recommend design modifications regarding construction and function of parts.
  • Develop specifications from general descriptions for specialty tools and draw or sketch designs of products.
  • Review with press operator on previous and following shifts, specific instructions, irregularities, and status of the job currently on the press.
  • Visually inspect material while operating presses.
  • Follow departmental job policies & procedures and maintain a neat, safe work area.
  • Work effectively in a team environment and use measuring devices such as calipers, micrometers, tape measure, dial indicators, and digital readers.
  • Demonstrate strong mathematical skills as may be required to make measurements.

Qualifications

  • Experience with surface grinders, lathes, and mills.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects up to 50lbs and perform repetitive bending, squatting, and twisting.
  • Must be able to stand for the entire 12-hour shift and have knowledge of welding and brazing.
  • Must be able to wear personal protective equipment such as earplugs, safety glasses, and steel-toed shoes.
  • Must be willing to work overtime as required.
